About me: I am the Founder and Editor in Chief of The Mantle, an Associate Fellow at the World Policy Institute in New York City, and a member of the National Book Critics Circle and PEN American Center. I also serve as the Vice Chairperson for the Board of Trustees for the Community Church of New York, Unitarian Universalist (CCNY).
My writing has been published in Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg News, Foreign Policy in Focus, Gently Read Literature, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Truthdig, Open Letters Monthly, Words Without Borders, World Literature Today, World Policy Journal's blog, and ZNet, among other outlets.
I'm a Midwesterner at heart (hailing from Mattoon, IL), and have lived across the U.S. and visited many countries. I appreciate a good film and great art and I am fond of literature-in-translation. Having pursued an M.A. in International Affairs from The New School, I pay particular attention to global affairs, especially those of peace and conflict resolution and the intersection of art and politics. As a global citizen, I proudly call Queens, New York home.
